The 2017 World Autism Day was marked with a significant partnership between the CareMalta Group and Hand in Hand Malta. The event saw Hand in Hand Ltd, a company specializing in services for persons with developmental disorders, being set up.
This critical partnership brought together two entities who have established themselves in their respective fields. For the past two and a half decades, CareMalta has been the leading private operator in elderly services. It has also ventured in the area of disability through its latest company, HILA – Home to independence and limitless abilities.
In like manner, Jacqueline Abela DeGiovanni set up Hand in Hand Malta in 2008 after 16 years of experience in the clinical interventions fields especially related to disability services. Before relocating to Holland, Jacqueline worked in different organizations in Malta. For instance, she worked at the Amsterdam International Community School as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO).
After relocating to Ireland, Jacqueline worked at a Child Development Centre before proceeding to work in a Rehabilitation Centre for people with ‘acquired brain injury.’ She is also an Accredited Play Therapist and obtained her MSc in Applied Behaviour Analysis from Queen’s University in Belfast.
The recently-formed partnership will allow Hand in Hand Ltd to expand its services that had been previously offered by Hand in Hand Malta. Of course, that will enable it to provide a wide range of services according to the needs of the child, which ranges from psychological assessments, evidence-based intervention (ABA), Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy services.
